Article summary
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched a consultation on new draft guidance to help businesses co-operate on environmental goals. The guidance explains how competition law applies to environmental sustainability agreements between firms operating at the same level of the supply chain. The draft guidance also invites parties to approach the CMA for informal advice, in what it is calling an ‘open-door policy’. It also provides examples of successful collaborations between businesses in different sectors. The CMA hopes that the guidance will encourage more businesses to work together to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices. Responses can be submitted to the consultation on the draft guidance until 5pm on 11 April 2023.
