The Department for International Trade has issued a joint statement from the Secretary of State for International Trade, Liz Truss, and India’s Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piysuh Goyal, regarding the Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP) progress. On 6 February 2021, discussions were carried out on the range of bilateral trade and economic relations and both ministers reiterated their commitment to long term India-UK partnership and agreed to deepen trade cooperation between the two countries through an ETP. The purpose was to understand each other’s priorities and trade sensitivities. The ministers also reviewed progress in removing market access barriers as well as ongoing cooperation in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Additionally, the ministers committed to relaunch the UK-India CEO Forum and announced their commitment to work with businesses to improve the business environment and collectively address the challenges to post-coronavirus economic recovery.
