The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has announced an investment worth £88.7m into five aerospace projects. The grants, of which £44.1m will come from the government and £44.6m from industry, were awarded through the Aerospace Technology Institute Programme to improve manufacturing techniques in the aerospace industry. According to BEIS, the focus of the projects will be on the creation of lightweight materials, the primary benefit of which is lowered fuel consumption. In addition, BEIS hopes that 1,400 jobs will be secured as a result of the projects across the UK.
