PRACTICE NOTES
Part 11 of the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023 (LURA 2023) provides for yet another regime designed to improve transparency regarding land ownership and control, in addition to the register of overseas entities and the Trusts Registration Service (see Practice Notes: Overseas entities and land under the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022—property registration and restrictions and Trust Registration Service for conveyancers). It deals with ‘Information about interests and dealings in land’, setting out a framework under which the Secretary of State has the power to require (though regulations) the disclosure of information which is within the scope of a ‘permitted purpose’. The information is to be provided either to the Chief Land Registrar or another person exercising public functions on behalf of the Crown. On 8 June 2026, the government made the Provision of Information (Contractual Control) (Registered Land) Regulations 2026, SI 2026/615 which bring the regime into force on 6 April 2027. Rights granted on or after 8 June 2026 but before 6 April 2027 must be submitted by 6 October

Ireland—Employment analysis: This article was written by A&L Goodbody’s Employment team. It examines the Labour Court's first decision on the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023 (Ireland) (the 2023 Act) concerning a request for remote working. It considers the Labour Court's confirmation that its jurisdiction is limited to reviewing procedural compliance rather than the merits of an employer's decision, the application of the statutory framework to remote working requests, and the practical implications for employers responding to and documenting requests under the 2023 Act.
PRACTICE NOTES
This Practice Note tracks the progress and detail of the Labour Government’s employment-related legislative agenda, set out in the King’s Speech on 17 July 2024. It notes the origins of the various aspects of the Employment Rights Bill (ERB) (now enacted as the Employment Rights Act 2025 (ERA 2025)) and the Equality (Race and Disability) Bill, including Labour’s new deal for working people (September 2021) and the Labour Party Manifesto 2024, and tracks later announcements and press releases, including the policy paper Next Steps to Make Work Pay (Next Steps). The Practice Note also outlines progress in relation to other manifesto commitments of interest to employment practitioners, such as proposals to introduce a single worker status and a right for workers to disconnect from work outside their normal working hours. The Labour Manifesto stated that Labour’s Plan to make work pay: Delivering a new deal for working people will be implemented in full. It is that document that sets out in detail the party’s employment-related pledges. King’s Speech 2024 The King’s Speech on 17 July 2024 announced two
