MLex has reported that an unnamed data controller has received a €1,000 fine from the Spanish Data Protection Authority for the illegal processing of data via a video-surveillance system. The controller installed a camera at the entrance of a bar, which contrary to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR) principle of data minimisation processed images of people on the street and in public areas.

The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) has announced the dissemination of data of the Islamic banking systems for Q3 of 2019 of its member jurisdictions. The Secretary-General of the IFSB, Dr Bello Lawal Danbatta, has indicated that the number of reporting countries for the dissemination of Islamic banking database has extended from 17 to 24, including the UK.
