The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has announced that the Waking Watch Replacement Fund (WWRF) has opened for applications. The WWRF provides an additional £27m to install fire alarms in all buildings where a Waking Watch is in place, on top of the current £35m available under the Waking Watch Relief Fund, which supports 323 buildings to replace the 24-hour fire patrol service. The additional funding will also help end the practice of forcing leaseholders in buildings awaiting the completion of remediation works to pay for Waking Watches. Applications to the fund close at 11.59 pm on 28 March 2022.
