The United Nations (UN) has announced that Nigeria has ratified the UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, also known as the Singapore Convention on Mediation. Nigeria became the thirteenth State Party to the Convention. The Convention facilitates international trade and promotes mediation as an alternative method of resolving commercial disputes by providing a mechanism for enforcement of international settlement agreements. The Convention will come into force in Nigeria on 27 May 2024.
