The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport has announced that the Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy, Chris Philp, has recently hosted the annual Digital Nations conference. The digital ministers for Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Republic of Korea and Uruguay were all in attendance, and ministers discussed digital identity systems that enable e-passports to function, digital infrastructure, the development and use of data, digital tools and technologies, and each nation's requisite skillset of civil servants and end users. In particular, Philp highlighted how digital technology is used within the UK’s public sector, such as within the NHS Blood and Transplant service to find organ donors quicker. In concluding the summit, all ten nations published a joint statement which reaffirmed their ‘commitment to work together to accelerate digital transformation, continue to use technology to break down barriers between government and people, and embrace innovative digital solutions that deliver real-world impact’.
