The European Commission has published a set of resources to help traders, online platforms and search engines benefit from Regulation (EU) 2019/1150, the platform-to-business (P2B) Regulation, which applies from 12 July 2020. A Q&A document and explanation video are among some of the resources provided by the Commission. The P2B Regulation ‘sets the basic horizontal foundation for a fair, transparent and predictable business environment for smaller businesses and traders relying on search engines and online platforms such as online marketplaces, app stores, certain price comparison tools or business pages on social media for their activities’. Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, explained that ‘all operators need to adapt to the new rules we are implementing. They will strengthen trust in the online platform economy and make it strive for the benefit of all’.
