The Public Law Project (PLP) has submitted its response to the consultation on government proposals for Judicial Review reform. In its response, the PLP contends that the package of proposals set out in the consultation does not serve the principles of fair and lawful public administration and promote high quality public decision-making, but rather ‘undermines them’. Its response argues that the ‘proposals go too far in restricting access to justice and fair outcomes for individuals. The impact of the proposals is not justified by the weight of evidence or the government’s underlying concerns. The result is a set of changes which are disproportionate and unjustified.’ As a result, the PLP sets out in its response its concerns, as well as how the government’s proposals can be made more sustainable and proportionate while still accomplishing underlying objectives.
