The European Parliament’s Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) has published a paper analysing the contribution, or lack of contribution, of the current EU Consumer Protection Legislation to a sustainable consumption and a longer lifetime of products. In addition, the paper provides an overview of the most relevant best practices at national and international level. It also provides recommendations on the future development and possible reforms of European consumer protection legislation in order to contribute to a more sustainable consumption and a longer lifetime of products.
