The Department of Health and Social Care has announced that a new clinical trials deal has been struck to better protect the world from future pandemics after the UK and Argentina brought a new resolution at the World Health Assembly on 27 May 2022. The 'Strengthening clinical trials to provide high-quality evidence on health interventions and to improve research quality and coordination' resolution will assist developing countries to increase their capacity to run their own drug and vaccine trials by urging investors’ funding, and will offer better protection against future pandemics and health challenges by helping these countries to respond faster in public health emergencies.
