Justice Commissioner, Didier Reynders, has discussed with the European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee the plans for the New Consumer Agenda, which is to be presented by the European Commission in the last quarter of 2020, aiming to accord consumer protection with ‘today’s realities.’ The Commissioner has confirmed that ‘empowering consumers in the green economy and managing any further disruptions as COVID-19’ will be essential in the Consumer Agenda. MEPs will play an important part of the circular economy and consumer agenda, however many MEPs regretted that many green transition and circular economy files are postponed until 2021.
