The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has updated its ‘Changes to Section 72: Public showing or playing of broadcasts’ guidance to provide clarity regarding licences that organisations should consider when showing broadcasts on their premises, following the Post Implementation Review of The Copyright (Free Public Showing or Playing) (Amendment) Regulations 2016, SI 2016/565. This has replaced the former guidance on section 72 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 published in 2016.
