The Home Office has published Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE 1984) code of practice A, which comes into effect from 17 January 2023, following a statutory consultation that ran from May 2022 to June 2022. The revised code includes new powers in relation to Serious Violence Reduction Orders, which give the police powers to stop and search individuals convicted of an offence where a knife or offensive weapon was used or was present.
