The Department for Transport (DfT) has published a policy paper that states that the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, has made a class approval for the matters ancillary to development of the HS2 rail project under paragraph 5 of Schedule 17 to the High Speed Rail (West Midlands—Crewe) Act 2021. The relevant matters in relation to which the class approval has been made are the handling of re-useable spoil or topsoil, storage sites for construction materials, spoil or topsoil, works screening, artificial lighting, dust suppression, and road mud control measures. The approval is to apply to the whole HS2 Phase 2a route.
