The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has reviewed over 200 cases pursued under the coronavirus (COVID-19) legislation to the end of April 2020 and found that the majority of prosecutions under the regulations (175 out of 187) were charged correctly. Most of the errors concerned the application of the Welsh regulations in England or vice versa. However, all 44 cases under the Coronavirus Act 2020 were incorrectly charged as there was no evidence they covered potentially infectious people, 31 of these cases were withdrawn.
