The Department of Health and Social Care has published a new ‘Protective Immunity from T cells to COVID-19 in health workers’ (PITCH) study led by Sheffield and Oxford Universities alongside the UK Coronavirus Immunology Consortium, which involved 237 healthcare workers being tested for antibody and T-cell responses. The study has confirmed that one dose of the Pfizer coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine generates high T-cell and antibody responses in 99% of the people, and has shown that people who have experienced coronavirus symptoms prior to the first dose of the vaccine, generated stronger T-cell and antibody responses following one dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
