The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) has announced that there will be a significant reduction in the number of summary criminal trials from 19 March 2020 as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The SCTS will focus on custody trials and a small handful of non-custody trials relating to domestic abuse, sexual offending and violence. It has also been announced that the SCTS is working alongside other authorities to enable evidence to be given from other locations and to expand the use of technology.
