The Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) has launched a public consultation on a draft report regarding the measures for ensuring equivalence of access and choice for disabled end-users, following its 51st plenary meeting held between 9–10 June 2022. BEREC defines 'equivalence' as the equivalent access to and the choice of electronic communications services, irrespective of any additional costs acquired in providing them to end-users with disabilities. This may be done by implementing specific solutions, which may 'not necessarily coincides with those available to other end users'. The report summarises detail on the ways in which Member States are implementing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) to ensure the availability and affordability of equipment/services that enhance equivalent access. The public consultation runs until 15 August 2022.
