The European Commission has adopted a proposal for the creation of an Ethics Body, covering members of EU institutions, which will set common standards for ethical conduct and a mechanism to coordinate and exchange views on requirements between institutions. It is intended that EU politicians will therefore be subject to common, clear, transparent and comprehensible standards. The body will not deal with individual investigations or those of well established existing bodies. The Commission is inviting institutions and advisory bodies to a meeting on 3 July 2023 to begin the dialogue and negotiations.
