The European Commission has adopted a recommendation on EU coordinated approach to travel and transport in response to new variant of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the UK. The recommendation builds on the recommendation from 13 October 2020 and other guidance such as the Green Lanes Communication. The Recommendation states that all non-essential travel to and from the UK should be discouraged, however essential travel and transit of passengers should continue. Therefore, flight and travel bans should be discontinued. The recommendation also stresses the need to take swift temporary precautionary action to limit the further spread of the new strain of coronavirus.
