The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has published its monthly construction update, with monthly output volume estimated to have increased by 1.9% in May 2024. This was attributed to increases in both new work (2.7% increase), and repair and maintenance (0.8% increase). At the sectoral level, eight out of the nine sectors saw growth in May 2024. The main contributors to this increase were total new private and public housing (2.8% increase), new infrastructure work (3.5% increase), and non-housing repair and maintenance (2.1% increase). Construction output is estimated to have decreased by 0.7% in the three months leading to May 2024, resulting from a 0.9% decrease in new work, and a 0.3% decrease in repair and maintenance.
