Family analysis: Where a disposal occurs on or after 6 April 2023, there will be changes to the capital gains tax (CGT) rules that apply to transfers of assets between spouses and civil partners who are in the process of separating. The aim of this measure is to makes the CGT rules fairer for spouses and civil partners who are in the process of separating and allow more time for them to transfer assets between themselves without incurring a charge to CGT.
