Black Equity Organisation (BEO) has launched legal proceedings against Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, following her announcement on 26 January 2023 that she will not implement three of the 30 recommendations from the independent review into the Windrush Scandal. Braverman will not be implementing recommendations to run reconciliation events, to introduce a Migrant’s Commissioner and to review the remit and role of the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration. Accordingly, BEO is seeking a judicial review of the Home Secretary’s decision, citing this as a ‘chilling attempt’ by Braverman to limit the independent and robust scrutiny of the Home Office and shutting victims out.
