Article summary

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has published ministerial letters to four developers welcoming Pathfinder proposals on projects to enable regulatory and policy changes in line with the Offshore Transmission Network Review. BEIS outlines four confirmed Pathfinder projects that aim to deliver 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, and further near-term benefit to the community, the environment and to consumers. Project proposals include a shared transmission infrastructure between the Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon extensions projects in East Anglia and a hydrogen electrolyser utilising power from the existing Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm in Yorkshire. Additionally, BEIS announced that five more projects across East Anglia confirmed their commitment to exploring co-ordinated network designs and identifying future Pathfinder projects in a joint statement.
