Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA) have reported that nine charities and patient organisations have written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, urging him to rethink plans for fixed costs on lower value clinical negligence claims. The organisations say that the plans threaten safety and access to justice for some of the most vulnerable people harmed by clinical negligence. The letter was signed by AvMA, the Patients Association, Mencap, Harmed Patients Alliance, Action On Pre-Eclampsia, the Birth Trauma Association, Erb’s Palsy Group and Group B Strep Support.
