MLex has reported that France's Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés has created a five-person artificial intelligence (AI) department in preparation for an incoming EU law on the technology. The department, which will be attached to the competition regulator's technology and innovation department, will strengthen its expertise on the use of AI and the risks it presents. It will propose recommendations on training databases in the coming weeks, it said on 23 January 2023. The EU has proposed an AI law, which the European Parliament is expected to finish debating in March 2023.
