EU Law weekly highlights—26 February 2026
This week's edition of EU Law weekly highlights includes analyses on the publication of the EU Sustainability Omnibus Directive in the Official Journal, the Court of Justice’s ruling that intellectual property owners cannot rely on earlier UK trade marks in European opposition proceedings that began before Brexit, that the EU is preparing a Chips Act 2.0 after its first semiconductor push three years ago failed to deliver major investments, the European Commission launched a consultation on a revised draft of the General Block Exemption Regulation, the Commission and the UK formally signed the EU-UK Competition Co-operation Agreement and published a summary of the responses received to its public consultation on the ongoing review of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation. In addition this week, the European Data Protection Board adopted a report on its Coordinated Enforcement Framework action, signed a Joint Statement on AI-Generated Imagery and the Protection of Privacy, the Commission adopted a Delegated Act exempting pallet wrapping and the Council adopted a regulation establishing a modernised policy framework to support the EU wine sector.
