Effective training is critical in a safety‑critical, highly regulated sector where regulatory change is rapid and enforcement can be significant. Programmes commonly address the statutory framework for electricity and gas (Electricity Act 1989; Gas Act 1986), licensing and codes, wholesale market conduct (REMIT as retained EU law and the Electricity and Gas (Market Integrity and Transparency) (Enforcement etc.) Regulations 2013), and financial market overlap (UK MAR where relevant). Materials also cover upstream oil and gas (Petroleum Act 1998; North Sea Transition Authority guidance), nuclear (ONR licensing), environmental permitting and health and safety, and new regimes under the Energy Act 2023 for CCUS, hydrogen and heat networks.

Practitioners should ensure content is accurate for the relevant jurisdiction (GB, NI) and regulator expectations (Ofgem, NSTA, HSE, Environment Agency, ONR, the Utility Regulator in NI).
