7 General statutory and other provisions relating to carriage by road

There are numerous statutory provisions regulating the carriage of dangerous and other goods by road, including provisions for the carriage of petroleum products, hazardous chemicals, nuclear materials, perishable foodstuffs, controlled waste and animals. In some cases, drivers must also be appropriately qualified, and if a driver is to be supplied by an agency, it is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that the driver has the appropriate qualifications.
