The Baku Arbitration Centre (BAC) has published the programme for Azerbaijan Arbitration Days 2025, taking place in Baku from 24–25 October 2025. The inauguration will be opened by Azerbaijan’s Chief Justice Dr Inam Karimov and Justice Minister Dr Farid Ahmadov, followed by an opening address from former European Council President Charles Michel on international arbitration as ‘A Last Safe Haven in a Turbulent World’. The programme includes a keynote by former UNIDROIT President Prof Maria-Chiara Malaguti focusing on Middle Corridor infrastructure disputes and investments contracts, alongside panel discussions featuring international arbitration practitioners and academics.

The Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Center (BAC) has launched the Culture, Sports and Entertainment Arbitration Center in Dongcheng District, alongside a seminar and the establishment of the Legal Services Alliance for the culture, sports and entertainment industry. The new centre and alliance aim to promote greater specialisation and internationalisation in arbitration, while providing one-stop, full-chain legal services, including dispute prevention, mediation and arbitration coordination. They are also intended to support the development of the industry. The event additionally marked the release of the Annual Observation on Film and Entertainment Dispute Resolution (2026) and a collection of 10 representative arbitration cases covering film, sports broadcasting, talent agency and intellectual property disputes.

The Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Paris Court of International Arbitration (CAIP) to strengthen international commercial dispute resolution between China and France. This cooperation comes amid a rise in cross-border disputes driven by expanding economic and trade ties. The MOU provides for cooperation in areas including academic seminars, rule innovation, international arbitration talent training, international conferences, and publicity and promotion, with the aim of supporting arbitration practice and dispute resolution development.

The Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) and Trade Finance Global (TFG) have launched a comprehensive guide to Documentary Credits. The guide aims to broaden the understanding and use of this essential trade finance document and to facilitate transparency, efficiency, compliance, and trust in international trade transactions. The guide clarifies the basics of Letters of Credit and breaks down further intricacies of when to use certain documents.

The Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) has published a white paper titled ‘Trade Finance Sustainability Guidelines for Transaction Banking’. The guidelines aim to help banks assess sustainable trade finance transactions in a practical, proportionate and globally applicable manner, establishing a minimum baseline for credible decision-making. They complement existing standards and offer a practical alternative where those standards may not fully reach, including for small and medium-sized enterprises, developing markets and high-volume, low-value trade flows. The white paper is available to BAFT members only and customers must sign in to access it.

The Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) has published updated legal opinions for its Master Participation Agreement (MPA) for Trade Transaction (English Law version 2008, Amended in 2022) and (New York Law version 2019, Amended in 2021), to accommodate LIBOR-related updates, and these newly issued legal opinions complete the documentation for utilisation.

The Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT), in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, have published a new white paper which sets out the potential for deep-tier supply chain finance to bridge the trade finance gap, drive liquidity to the most underserved segments of the trade market and enhance visibility within global supply chains.

Latest developments On 18 January 2019, the Commission approved the transaction, subject to commitments. Under the commitments, the parties agreed to divest a number of Solvay facilities, to create a production joint venture together with the buyer of these facilities and to enter into long-term supply agreements to meet the divested business’ requirements. BASF is active in a range of sectors, including chemicals, performance products, functional materials and solutions, agricultural solutions and oil & gas. It is active in the polyamide value chain, in particular in the production of Hexamethylene Diamine, Adipic Acid, adipate Salt, Base Polymers and Engineering Plastics.
