HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 1—First registrations. Section 5.1 has been amended to clarify that the applicant should be in occupation of the land.

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 19—Notices, restrictions and protection of third-party interests. Section 3.1.5.6 has been amended to incorporate guidance on complying with company counter fraud restrictions. Section 3.5.1 has had a note added about the action that HMLR will take when an application to enter a restriction in Form LL is made at the same time as an application to register another disposition. Section 3.8 has been amended to clarify what is needed when seeking, under rule 130 of the Land Registration Rules 2003, alteration of a document containing an application for a restriction, where the parties made a mistake in the restriction applied for.

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 21—Using our forms for complex and more unusual transactions. Section 1.2 has been updated to confirm that separate applications must be prepared and submitted for each transfer where multiple transfers are being submitted.

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 24—Private trusts of land. Section 8.12 has been amended to clarify that EU and UK companies can be trust corporations, while other overseas entities cannot.

HM Land Registry has updated Practice Guide 4—Adverse possession of registered land. Section 10 has been amended to clarify that a fee is currently payable for applications to remove an entry through an alteration of the register.

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated the Practice Guide 56—Rentcharges. Section 3 of the practice guide has been updated as a result of changes in the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 coming into force on 24 July 2024. There have also been updates to the government guidance which reflect these changes too.

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 57—Exempting documents from the general right to inspect and copy, by amending section 2.1, which relates to how to prepare an edited information document, to reflect that many customers no longer send a printed version of the document to HMLR. The revised guidance applies equally where the edited information document is lodged in electronic form.
