HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 6—Devolution on the death of a registered proprietor. Section 6 has been amended to reflect HMLR's updated practice for first registrations. Previously, in the absence of other requisition points, HMLR completed the application with a protective entry and sent an accompanying letter. HMLR will now request evidence to determine whether a register entry for inheritance tax is required.

The Guide has been changed to reflect the withdrawal of the fax service, to clarify practice on the cancellation of land charges and to provide more information about the agricultural credits register.

HM Land Registry has updated its guidance on evidence of identity in PG 67. Section 4.1.B has been amended to clarify that evidence of identity is required for the person or company on whose behalf the excepted party acts.

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has updated Practice Guide 8—Execution of deeds. Section 7 has been revised as temporary guidance for local authorities that was introduced during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, has now been made permanent.
