The European Commission is consulting on guidelines to support the implementation of Directive 2024/1760 on corporate sustainability due diligence. The Directive targets very large EU companies as well as non-EU companies with significant business in the EU. It requires them to identify, prevent and bring to an end actual and potential adverse impacts on human rights and the environment in their own operations, those of their subsidiaries and in their value chains. The Commission says it will issue guidelines that provide practical orientation to companies on how to fulfil their due diligence obligations, to Member State authorities on how to implement and enforce the Directive, and to stakeholders on how to pursue their rights. The guidelines will also be relevant for companies and other stakeholders in non-EU countries that are linked to the supply chains of companies with obligations under the Directive. Responses are sought by 24 July 2026.

The European Commission launched a consultation on 11 April 2025 to evaluate and revise the 2019 EU Cybersecurity Act. The review focuses on the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) mandate, the European Cybersecurity Certification Framework, and ICT supply chain security. The consultation aims to simplify cybersecurity rules and streamline reporting obligations. Member state authorities, industry stakeholders, researchers, and consumer organisations are invited to submit responses via the Have Your Say portal. The consultation will be open until 20 June 2025.

The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to review the EU Taxonomy Climate and Environmental Delegated Acts, which supplement Regulation (EU) 2020/852 (the EU Taxonomy Regulation), with adoption planned for the second quarter of 2026. This initiative aims to simplify and clarify the technical screening criteria that define environmentally sustainable economic activities, responding to stakeholder concerns over complexity, inconsistency, and legal uncertainty that hinder practical implementation and increase compliance costs. Undertaken in line with the Taxonomy Regulation’s legal review requirements and the Commission’s objective to reduce administrative burdens, the review will amend and consolidate the criteria through two Delegated Regulations to improve clarity, usability, and alignment with updated EU legislation while maintaining environmental integrity. The call for evidence will run until 5 December 2025.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on its upcoming EU sustainable tourism strategy. The initiative aims to enhance sustainability, competitiveness and innovation in the tourism sector, which represents 5.1% of EU gross value added. The strategy will address challenges including overcrowding and climate change impacts, while promoting eco-friendly options and digital services. Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, is leading the consultation, which builds on the 2022 Transition Pathway for Tourism framework. The consultation period runs from 20 June to 12 September 2025.

The European Commission has launched a call for evidence and public consultation on its proposed EU Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act. The regulation aims to help energy-intensive industries decarbonise while maintaining international competitiveness through streamlined administrative procedures and investment facilitation. The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the evaluation of Directive (EU) 2016/2284 (the National Emission Reduction Commitments (NEC) Directive). The evaluation seeks to assess whether the NEC Directive effectively contributes to its goals of reducing national emissions of fine particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, non-methane volatile organic compounds, ammonia and sulphur dioxide. It also aims to understand whether the NEC Directive is still relevant and hopes it will help clarify any obstacles in implementing the Directive. The European Commission has initiated a comprehensive review of Regulation (EU) 316/2014, the Technology Transfer Block Exemption Regulation (TTBER) and accompanying Guidelines. The Commission has completed the evaluation phase in November 2024, which included public consultations, a stakeholder workshop, and a support study. It has now entered the impact assessment phase, with a call for evidence and public consultation open until 25 April 2025. The European Commission has published a draft delegated regulation establishing rules for EU design-related intellectual property procedures managed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The regulation supplements Regulation (EC) No 6/2002 and replaces the existing Commission Implementing Regulation (EC) No 2245/2002, as required by Regulation 2024/2822 to align Regulation (EC) No 6/2002 with Articles 290 and 291 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU. The Commission plans to adopt the regulation in the first quarter of 2026. The consultation period runs from 29 October 2025 to 26 November 2025.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on draft guidelines concerning the transparency obligations under Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the ‘AI Act’) and is inviting stakeholder feedback ahead of their adoption. The guidelines clarify how the AI Act’s transparency requirements will apply from 2 August 2026, including obligations to inform individuals in the EU when they are interacting with AI systems or exposed to certain AI-generated or manipulated content. Under the AI Act, providers of AI systems will be required to inform users when they are interacting with AI and to implement machine-readable marking and detection mechanisms for AI-generated or manipulated content. Deployers, meanwhile, must disclose the use of deepfakes, AI-generated public-interest content and emotion recognition or biometric categorisation systems. The consultation closes on 3 June 2026.

The European Commission has opened a feedback period on a draft implementing regulation which would allow electronic instructions for use in electronic format for all medical devices intended exclusively for healthcare professionals. The implementing regulation, under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (Medical Devices Regulation), aims to modernise and streamline the provision of instructions, enhancing accessibility and efficiency in healthcare settings. Stakeholders can provide feedback until 21 March 2025.
