Article summary

MLex has reported that TikTok has been fined €5m by France’s Data Protection Authority (CNIL) for failing to make it just as easy for users of tiktok.com to refuse cookies as to accept them. In addition, TikTok users were not sufficiently informed of the purposes of the different cookies, the CNIL said. It said the company had violated national rules that implement the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR).
