On 3 August 2022, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng, granted variation of consent to increase the electrical export capacity at Tilbury Green Power, Essex, from 80MW to 88MW. The application to vary consent granted by the Secretary of State under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 (EA 1989) was submitted on behalf of Tilbury Green Power Limited on 30 March 2022. Consent was initially granted for the construction and operation of a 60MW biomass and energy from waste fuelled electricity generating station in Essex on 27 August 2009 and has been varied several times since.
