Ben Macpherson, Scottish Minister for Public Finance and Migration, has issued an open letter about the code of practice for commercial property relationships during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Macpherson believes that the code of practice, which was issued by UK government on 19 June 2020, is a ‘useful tool to engage with pro-actively, collaboratively, empathetically and strategically’ in order to sustain tenant businesses and viable commercial property provision through the coronavirus period and beyond. The Code was published in response to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on landlords and tenants in the commercial property sector across the UK. It is intended to reinforce and promote good practice among landlord and tenant relationships.
