The French Presidency of the Council of the European Union has published its legislative programme for its six-month mandate, ending on 30 June 2022. As president of the Council of the European Union, France will chair one of two legislative chambers in the EU. France’s priorities for the next six months are recovery, strength and a sense of belonging. A competence of significant importance for the French presidency is the opportunity to develop the common and foreign policy of the EU. An important part of the French presidency will be in the preparation of the European Union-African Union Summit taking place in Brussels on 17 and 18 February 2022.
