Ofgem has issued its authority decision to approve the Frequency Risk and Control Report (FRCR) and its recommendations. The FRCR aims to make the criteria by which the Electricity System Operator (ESO) balances the costs and risk of frequencies deviations more transparent to stakeholders and industry. The FRCR contains two main proposals which are to continue with the ESO’s current internal operational policy of maintaining minimum system inertia and to apply individual loss risk controls to Balancing Mechanism Units infeed losses.
