Article summary
Ofcom has fined BT £42,500, after the company provided incorrect information for the 2019 Connected Nations report. The report analyses broadband and mobile services availability across the UK. Ofcom had requested information about the number of premises able to receive its fixed wireless access broadband service from EE, which is owned by BT, which was then included in the report in 2019. In 2020, BT informed Ofcom that the information previously provided was incorrect and correct information was given. Ofcom therefore fined BT, reflecting BT’s agreement to settle the investigation by admitting full liability.
