MLex has reported the Italian social welfare and educational services provider Codess Sociale has received a €10,000 fine from the Italian Data Protection Authority (DPA) for failing to fulfill a data subject's right to deletion under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR). The complainant, who had voluntarily resigned, requested the deletion of their personal data, the regulator said. The company failed to respond to the request in time, breaching Articles 12 and 17 of the EU GDPR, the DPA said.
