The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that they have issued a Crown Censure against the Ministry of Defence (MoD) after an employee was shot during a training exercise in January 2019. The ammunition used in the training exercise was supposed to be a blank ammunition. The incident resulted in life changing consequences for the injured employee, including post-traumatic stress disorder and difficulty performing routine tasks. The MoD has accepted the Crown Censure and therefore admitted to breaching their duty under Sections 2(1) and 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HSWA 1974).
