HM Land Registry (HMLR) has published a blog post confirming that, from October 2024, it will no longer accept conveyancer applications for first registration that are comprised entirely of certified copies of title deeds and documents. Applications that are lodged before October 2024 will be dealt with in accordance with HMLR’s current direction. Thereafter, applications will need to be accompanied by the original deeds and documents that are in the possession of the property owner.
