The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) has published a guide titled: 1970 Evidence Convention Guide to Good Practice The Use of Video-Link. The principle focus of the guide is stated to be the use of video technology under the convention and it draws on national and international developments in this area. It is 'principally limited to the use of video-link in the taking of testimonial evidence, this being the type of evidence which is most suitable to be taken by video-link technology and more commonly used / requested among jurisdictions. Depending on the applicable law, video-link may also be used to obtain evidence other than testimony, but its use for that purpose would appear to be more limited'.
