The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government has announced that 49,470 new homes were built during the first three months of 2021, which, according to the department, is the highest figure in more than 20 years. This is despite the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In addition, of the 49,470, 81% were homes as opposed to flats, the highest proportion since 2000–01.
