The Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced that £93m will be made available for major road upgrades across the country. The funds are part of the government’s commitment to boost the economic recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Up to £56m will be used to upgrade the Kex Gill section of the A59 in North Yorkshire. £24m will be invested in the West Midlands, to reduce congestion at Birchley Island, situated at the intersection of the M5, A4123 and A4034 and Hampshire is set receive £13m to upgrade to the Redbridge Causeway bridges over the River Test.
