Ofgem, the International Energy Agency, the International Renewable Energy Agency and the World Bank, have launched a global ‘Regulatory Accelerator’, which is designed to help expedite the energy transition and ‘help countries with less developed energy systems to leapfrog the carbon-intensive paths other countries have previously taken’. Approximately 20 regulators worldwide have committed to participate in the Regulatory Accelerator, with more expected to follow after the COP26 climate summit currently taking place in Glasgow.
