The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets published its final decision on its Guaranteed Standards of Performance consultation and Statutory Instrument (SI) on 12 February 2020. The draft SI and consultation, published on 20 September 2019, proposed three new guaranteed standards, which require suppliers to make automatic payments for breaches of the proposed standards when switches between electricity and gas retailers go wrong. This marks the second phase of the guaranteed standards relating to switching, and, as a result, suppliers will have to make payments for breaches beginning 1 May 2020.
