Ernst & Young (EY) has released survey results, which considered views of 2,000 UK energy consumers, and explored their attitudes towards sustainability. The results show that generally, UK energy consumers are more likely to buy sustainable products and services, and younger consumers are more likely to pay more for sustainable energy. EY also found that consumers are interested in understanding their carbon footprint and are willing to make changes, but require more information and assistance, particularly on how to change their energy provider. EY has noted, however, that it is not enough for companies to offer green tariffs, rather they must ‘commit to sustainability across all their activities’.
